I'm Aaron Feigelman, and I founded The Kawa Project in January 2020 as a movement to mitigate climate change by developing functional materials from food waste.
What's the deal with food waste?
Well, currently, 30% of food is thrown away globally, creating 8% of total global greenhouse gas emissions annually. And when food is wasted, the natural resources used to produce the food are wasted as well.
How do we fix this?
While we have a TON of food waste resources to recycle, we are starting by collecting used coffee grounds from Bay Area coffee shops and brewers. We extract the oils in the grounds and use them in our personal care and edible products.
Our first product is the one you're holding: our citrus hand wash. If you're a fan of our mission and finished your bottle, we'd love to hear your feedback through this survey below!
